Organizational Vision

Alliance for Depression represents and helps the largest collective of patients in Spain, more than three million people with depression, of which only 25% have access to an efficient treatment, according to the World Health Organization. The organization is convinced that an efficient methodology to treat depression must include three elements: a pharmacological treatment, psychotherapy and social support. The first two elements can be “covered” in a health plan. However that the patient be enclosed in a healthy environment, that he/she finds different ways to confront the problem and the he/she feels understood and accompanied are the aspects generally forgotten in our society but key for the well-being and the recovery process of the patient.

All in all, this organization does something so important and so forgotten, as offering the help, both socially and at a “human” level, that these people need.

Citizen Base Strategy

Alliance for Depression offer services to workers (both preventative services and for those who are already affected by depression) in large companies. This initiative responds to the needs of the workers. It is estimated that 40 workers are calling in “sick” due to depression in a company of 400 employees. With this new service, the organization generates financial resources for their own existence. It also strengthens the mission of the organization which is to provide all the needed support for patients with depression.

For companies the incentive of this service is that it demonstrates to its workers the company is looking out for them. Moreover they can reduce the time the worker is on sick leave because of depression, with the corresponding money saved by the company.

By providing this service, the organization can reach their social goals, offer the service to those who can afford it and guarantees the sustainability of the organization in the long term.
