Palli Sheba Parishad seeks to enhance income opportunities for the poor and to provide necessary resources for newborn babies. Palli Sheba Parishad identified 25 clinics and three government hospitals to sell its First Child Boxes, containing blankets, cloth nappies, and a pillow for newly born babies. As these products are made by the organization stakeholders, their sale facilitates job creation and income generation for the community. The strategy provides the hospitals with products not readily available outside the major urban area, which contributes to patient satisfaction. Palli Sheba Parishad’s stakeholders have found alternative source of employment and income while the organization has fostered its support base and the program’s sustainability.
