Organic Farming for People with Disabilities
AMARATI INSTITUTE
Organizational Vision
Citizen Base Strategy
Working in the city of Jundiai/SP and other cities in the region, Amarti is a citizen sector organization, with 18 years experience in caring for people with disabilities caused by neurological injuries. The Institute's mission is to contribute to the prevention and the handling of the disabilities, to humanize the care for people with disabilities, and to develop the skills necessary for their inclusion in family and society.
The project's objective is to cultivate agricultural products using the principles of organic agriculture. This strategy produces the collective social impact of providing the people with disabilities with the opportunity to work, offering a healthier diet for the community, offering volunteer positions for the elderly, contributing to the preservation of the environment and health of agricultural workers, and generating resources for the organization. The Institute intends to consume initial production by offering meals to the patients, family members and employees —approximately 1375 people. Later, the products will be offered to middle and low income families of Jundiaà and throughout the region that still do not have access to quality products due to lack of information and high cost. In this sense, free assistance of Agricultural Institutions, production of the necessary raw materials, and voluntary man power, direct payment ("harvest and payment") and the absence of an intermediary guarantees accessible cost to the consumer.
