Fundación Par is an organization that trains and integrates people with disabilities into the labor market.

The challenge was to develop and implement a cost-effective, dynamic fundraising event which furthers Fundación Par's mission, while quickly and easily generating funds. To meet this challenge, Fundación Par developed a "breakfast meeting series" that raises significant amounts of funds while simultaneously promoting the organization's mission.

Par invites executives from various companies who utilize their placement services, as well as those that currently do not employ workers with disabilities and/or are not familiar with the efforts of Fundación Par. Their goal is for companies to see Fundación Par as a professional placement service of competent workers, rather than just a charity. The topics of these breakfasts are therefore issues of concern and interest to all attendees and are never directly related to disabilities. For example, this year, Fundación Par has planned a breakfast meeting exclusively for human resources executives. This event will serve as a great introduction for Fundación Par, as a professional organization, to the people in charge of hiring at Argentina's top companies.

The first step in organizing these events is for Fundación Par's Board of Directors to convene and select potential speakers. Past high-profile speakers have included the Argentine Minister of the Economy. A formal invitation is sent to the speaker, which describes the organization and how these breakfasts generate funds as well as furtherFundación Par's mission as a professional job placement service.

Fundación Par then identifies corporate sponsors to cover all costs, including venue, photography, audio, video, programs, and food.Fundación Par targets companies that have a particular interest in the topic and speaker. Finally, invitations are sent to potential attendees, with the aim of having 100 confirmed attendees. Par invites executives from companies who utilize their placement services, as well as those that currently do not employ people with disabilities. Tickets cost US$100.

These "power" breakfast meetings are beneficial to attending corporate executives for several reasons. First, they are interested to seeing and gaining access to high-powered, thought provoking speakers. Another motivating factor for attendance is the opportunity that the breakfast meetings provide for executives to network with other executives in attendance. Finally, executives attend the meetings in order to support Fundación Par's work.

Results

These breakfast meeting raise approximately US$8,000 each. In addition to the funds generated, the events provide Fundación Par with an excellent venue for networking with current and future employers. Furthermore, by providing high-powered networking opportunities, Fundación Par proves true on its claim to provide high-caliber employment services to the corporate sector.
