ANDEAN CENTER FOR EDUCATION AND CULTURE
The Andean Center for Education and Culture runs a variety of activities fostering the arts and social development. The Center aims to integrate youth both socially and culturally. One of its most successful programs is the Andean Musical Embassy, a choir comprised of youngsters from Argentina, Bolivia and Chile.
In addition, the Center has found a way to promote its youth and their activities using an innovative strategy based in Tilcara, a town frequented by tourists along the way to Quebrada de Humahuaca, also in Jujuy Province. Members of the Center have rehabilitated an old building there in order to start up a restaurant featuring a musical theme. Members serve the restaurant patrons, and the meals are accompanied by classical music performances combined with folklore.
The Center benefits from the economic resources generated by the restaurant, but the project also serves as a wonderful promotional tool for the Center's full array of activities and a device for attracting new supporters. AVINA, for instance, contacted the Center after having stopped by at the restaurant. Visitors of all kinds can learn at the restaurant about how the organization develops its activities.
