SPECIAL SCHOOL N. 9 "RUCA ANTU"

Students at Special School N. 9 "Ruca Antu" were looking for creative and inexpensive ways to heat their homes in the wintertime due to a shortage of logs. The students developed "Ecologs", wet hand pressed newspaper. To create the logs, the students utilized scientific methods learned in school, and now the improved logs include pricked paper, dry leaves, sawdust, etc. The students have spread the how-to knowledge of creating logs to their families and other schools as an effective heating alternative as well as a tool for preservation of the environment. While contributing to the environmental awareness of the community, the students are also creating jobs for themselves.
