Organizational Vision

First Community Dining for Diabetics seeks to provide not only a location to obtain nutritious food, but also a community forum for treatment and patient interaction.

Citizen Base Strategy

This project operates a community dining hall for diabetics. During meals, patients interact and educate each other about various treatments. In exchange for going to the community dining room, the patients have to complete tasks such as cooking or serving food, and washing dishes. If a participant cannot move from home, as is often the case with the elderly patients, the patient still receives the food, and a relative completes the tasks at the dining room for him. Nearly all food and diabetes medicine for the project is donated by local businesses.

In addition, First Community Dining operates a delivery service of healthy food to the non-diabetic community. The same food that is served to the patients is also sold to the public in order to generate funds to help sustain the service. .
